Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a health profession that assesses and provides treatment to individuals of all ages.
It aims to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and function which has been threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.
A physiotherapist will work to identify the promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation of an injury and treat accordingly.
The range of treatments available are manipulation, mobilisation techniques, electrotherapy and prescribing strengthening exercises and advice where appropriate.
Treatments will encompass physical, psychological, emotion and social well being and will benefit from the interaction between physiotherapist, patients/clients,
other health professions, families, care givers and communities.
The physiotherapy profession works in a number of different areas, including muscoluskeletal injury or disfunction, orthopaedics, stroke, women's health,
cardio-respiratory, intensive care, care of the eldery, paediatrics, mental health and care in the community.
Personal Profile
Lisa Clark: BSc(Hons), (pre-reg) MSc. HPC CSP registered.
Lisa qualified with a Distinction in her Pre-registration Masters of Physiotherapy from Queen Margarate University in Edinburgh. During her studies Lisa received extensive placement allocation in the outpatient setting, working with a wide range of both acute and chronic injuries and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. Other areas of experience have included cardio-respiratory care, paediatrics and women's health.
Prior to her physio career Lisa graduated from Dundee university with an honours degree in Physiology with Sports Biomedicine and also completed her level 3 personal training qualification in advanced gym instruction and nutritional advice.
Together with her involvement in Body Motivate, Lisa also works as a pitch side physiotherapist for the Hearts Acaedemy Football Club. Outside of work Lisa is committed to continuing her personal development to ensure the most up-to-date treatment and care is available.
