Lee came
highly recommended by several fellow runners. So I
started seeing Lee for regular sports massage
treatments as part of my preparation for a big
ultra marathon in France. I had always felt pretty
sore and stiff after ultra marathons, but since
having regular treatment sessions this stiffness
is very mild and my little niggles during the run
(tight glutes, shoulder and hamstrings) and
post-run aching and painful feet have gone. I have
no doubt that seeing Lee enabled me to complete
well with no niggles at all in a 22 hour endurance
run in France, Italy and Swiss Alps and be able to
walk again normally in 2 days. I felt brilliant
during the race and recovery was extremely quick.

I have
just completed a block of 10 weekly sessions with
Lee. In that time, with his support, I have lost
a stone in weight , and gained loads of
confidence in my own physical ability. After a few
years of not taking part in regular exercise, I
was pretty much fat, frumpy and definitely moody.
His nutritional advice has seen me say goodbye to
cravings and high fat food. For me, being
accountable to Lee keeps me on track. I can’t
believe the difference in my strength, with the
statistics to prove that I have actually turned
fat into muscle (Lee uses special equipment to

After 6 years of regular
running I finally got my first sports injury and,
at just 4 weeks before my first full marathon, it
couldn’t be worse timing. I had terrible shooting
pains in my feet that made it very difficult to
continue running. A friend recommended that I go
and see Lee Spendiff and I was amazed at how
quickly he diagnosed the problem. The injury was
not directly to my feet but to my calves which,
after 4 months of marathon training, were very
tight and full of scar tissue – i.e. very
neglected! Lee measured the flexibility of the

I was fast approaching 50 as
a fat and unfit lump of lard! Having moved from
academia into the pharmaceutical industry in
recent years I was wearing all of the excesses of
my corporate lifestyle around my waistline and I
was not happy with this. I contacted Lee via his
website and asked for his help for my husband and
I. I have to admit that I felt that this would
probably be yet another failed attempt to get us
under control but that was until I met Lee. Lee is
an amazing person, from the moment I met him I
felt that this time it would be different. He is

As a 53 year old male with 36 years of
pen pushing behind me and no serious sustained
exercise in the past 20 years, my health profile
was less than ideal. 2 stone over weight, high

with a musculo-skeletal injury, particularly if

I am 62 and recently retired
having spent many years sitting in front of a
computer at work. I am not actively involved with
any sport (I watch the Olympics every 4 years) and
I am not particularly overweight though recently I
have gained a bit more of a blokes belly. I am of
fairly average fitness for my age and relatively
healthy but I have suffered from a frozen shoulder
for a couple of years.
My wife wanted to improve her
health and fitness with a personal trainer so I
was dragged along (reluctantly) to provide moral
support. Carol thought it would do us both good to
stay healthy and enable us to make the most of my
retirement. After a fitness assessment I was found
to be more stiff than the average (off the bottom
of the scale to be honest) but fairly strong (must
be all the curries I have picked up over the
years).
After the initial fitness
assessment my next session with Lee was at the
gym. That was potentially a seriously intimidating
part for me as I had never been to a gym before.
However, Lee was very reassuring as he gave me a
tour around the gym and equipment which made me
relaxed and confident. Lee put me through a
variety of exercises and provided lots of guidance
and encouragement at each stage. I now have a
session about once per week and am impressed by
how many different exercises Lee has in his
repertoire. This variety helps to make the
sessions interesting and enjoyable. As the weeks
have gone by I have been feeling fitter and
stronger and come back from the sessions motivated
to continue with exercises at home. The more I
exercise the more physical activity I can do. I
also find it mentally stimulating and wish I had
done this years ago. I would never have been
motivated to go to the gym on my own and would not
know how to exercise effectively without Lee's
guidance. Having a frozen shoulder means some
exercises are difficult, as I have a limited range
of movement on my left arm, but Lee works around
my limits and is giving me specific exercises to
increase the movement.

I am a 36 year old female who started the gym
reluctantly. I had a pain in my back that no
specialist could cure, so a friend recommended
Lee Spendiff. I started of getting sports therapy and after
a few sessions my back pain was gone. I asked him
about personal training and if he thought he could

overweight ,but would like to be fitter and trim

Approx 10 years ago I injured my shoulder at work in
a nursing home then in 2001 I had a car accident
causing a bad whiplash injury. Since then I have
struggled with chronic neck and shoulder pain which
has been virtually impossible to get rid of. I'm
only 30 and as I'm a nurse even a small flare up of
my symptoms makes working both painful and
difficult. Over the years I have tried most
treatments - reflexology, physiotherapy, reiki,
manipulation, osteopathy, heat and cold therapy and
of course painkillers, but massage has proven to be
the most effective. I met Lee through a friend who
has also benefited from his treatments.
His holistic approach to the problem is very welcome
and reassuring. He really does seem to have "healing
hands" and is very knowledgeable about the subject.
Since having regular consultations with Lee I hardly
ever have to take painkillers, which I used to have

I was introduced to Lee Spendiff
a few months ago by a fitness instructor. I have flat
feet this has devolved over the years to me having
poor mobility, chronic pain and swelling of the ankle
and knee joints.
When I first met Lee my ankles were so rigid that I
could only walk a few yards without sever discomfort.
Lee introduced me to a chiropractor who helped free up
my joints while Lee worked on my muscles. (my muscles
were so hard and rigid)
Over the years I have tried several types of
therapy but they only gave very short term relief.

I hurt my back wheel barrowing in the garden (where
else does one in their seventies wheelbarrow?) and a
few weeks later I developed a list to the side and
resembled a walking leaning tower of Pisa, getting
out of the car was an agonising contortion.

I didn't know that there was anything wrong with me. Then
one morning when I woke up my back and neck just froze. For
three weeks I was looking to the left whether i wanted to or
not. It was a nightmare! Not only was it very painful, but
even the simplest things, like opening a door became a
puzzle I had to think through in detail. Should I pull with
one hand block it with the cup of tea I was
carrying (thus burning myself and twisting my
shoulder) or kick it open karate style with my right foot
while facing in the opposite direction and run through it
backwards?
My doctor referred me to a physio where I was given
advice like keep warm and sort out your workstation before
he decided there was no more need for treatment. A few weeks
later I tried to make a start back at the gym. Within five
minutes I was sitting in tears on the steps outside the
class with shooting pains in my back neck and head.
That was when I met Lee...
I was told it would be a slow process - and it was. Lee
started with a programme of massage and stretching
exercises. The results were immediate. My headaches vanished
overnight and I got a full nights sleep for the first time
in months. My mobility increased and I was able to drive my

I have been seen by Lee on several occasions over the past three months or so. His approach is very thorough and his assessment skills were spot on.
He carries out his treatments in a friendly, relaxed and professional manner.
Lee has certainly improved my back pain issues and successfully treated a recent shoulder injury. He has also given good advice on body posture and general fitness training.

Lee illustrated problems with my posture which I’d just put down to they way I was made. He was illustrated that if not corrected in later life I could have major issues with my back. The work I was doing at the gym was actually making things worse. With a custom built set of exercises and a few sessions of sports massage I can notice the difference in the mirror and also I have no more neck ache. We also looked at my diet which has made my workouts more productive. I have lost 6% body fat gained muscle and feel and think more confidently.

I arranged to meet with Lee as my work life is hectic but sedentary and I couldn’t always focus on my training on a regular basis. I eat a healthy diet and work out fairly regularly but need o build strength as I plan to train to participate in a Quadrathlon in 2007. I have also been finding that as I creep through my 30s it isn’t so easy to keep the weight off!
Lee has arranged various gym programmes for me to build strength, increase my flexibility and stay motivated. He has also taken me through a full fitness and diet assessment which was quite a revelation. He’s worked on the areas of development and gave me tips on my diet etc… To be honest, I now have better all round fitness, losing body fat, toning up generally, improved posture from developmental massage and eating more than I ever have before!
As a regular exerciser, I was very pleasantly surprised that I didn’t know everything about how my body works. I’d recommend speaking with Lee for an honest appraisal of your overall personal fitness and you pick up Lee’s absolute enthusiasm for the role and his commitment to make YOU succeed.

I spent years in pain and frustration going back and forward between my GP and the physio for pain killers and unsuccessful exercises. A chance meeting, an informal 10 minute discussion and a few simple tests with Lee finally identified a possible cause of my pain. After a full consultation and assessment the cause of my years of torment was pinpointed and I have been getting better ever since… the proof being that I stop following the programme set for me I am aware of the issue returning, start back on it and it quickly goes away… I am very grateful for his help.
